Passwords Suck
Why passwords suck
We all know passwords suck. A strong, password is long, had multiple character types (upper & lowercase letters, numbers, symbols, etc.) and is likely hard to remember.1 We’ve all heard many times “don’t use the same password for multiple things”. Makes sense, if someone figures out your password they get to be you everywhere. However, when we go back to why I claim they suck we are quickly explaining why password managers exist.
Multiple Managers
Google Chrome has supported savings passwords for a long time. I could look up when the feature came about, but it really isn’t important. I’ve been saving passwords to my Google account via Chrome for much of said long time. However, at some point I “switched” over to Enpass. Of course, by “switched”, I mean I started using both like a silly goose.
All things considered, this isn’t the worst thing in the world. At least if I was using each for specific things I don’t think it would be. However, due to my lack of diligence there are plenty of duplicates, some that are updated in one but not the other… and where they are most up to date is basically random.
Final note on multiple managers, I’m anything but a security expert. With that in mind take this with a large grain of salt. Storing sensitive information in multiple places, opens yourself upto multiple avenues for someone to get said information. Not Ideal.
One Ring To Rule Them All
I’ve started playing around with VaultWarden [VW]. Slowly, I’ve been scrubbing both of my password managers, and removing from the 2 I was using and putting them things into VW.
